Things to bring to shoots: Clothes, props, ID (and, for a girl-girl shoot).
Our approach to clothing
In shoots, you wear your own clothing, selected by the Shoot Producer on the day of the shoot (with your advice).
We want our images to “pop”, and a lot of that comes from you wearing colourful clothes. Not everything has to be tie-dye and rainbows – solid bold colours are fine, as are more subtle patterns.
To give the Shoot Producer the best range of options, we ask that you bring a bag with a range of colourful clothing. You’ll mostly wear just one outfit (with a few additions here and there), but having options means we can make the best possible shoot (see also, Do I really have to carry my whole suitcase to the shoot?)
Clothing which has been worn on a previous abbywinters.com shoot, should not be brought to wear in future shoots with us (unless a Shoot Producer or Model Liaison has specifically asked for it). However, clothes worn on shoots are fine to be worn again during Playdates.
If you do not bring enough suitable clothes to the shoot, we may have to reschedule when you arrive on set, so don’t risk it!
Specific clothes to bring
You Shoot Producer will be very happy if you bring all this (older, well-worn stuff is always better for us):
- Mixture of colourful bras and undies – 6 of each 🩲
- Matching bra and undies sets – 3 sets
- No padded bras. Bralettes are great.
- At least three colourful tops, long and short sleeve 👕
- At least three colourful skirts or dresses 👗
- At least three pairs of 👖jeans / pants / shorts
- Several cute, casual and bright colourful cardigans, hoodies, or jackets
- Several hats👒 scarves 🧣 headbands / hair clips etc (matching clothes you’re bringing is ideal)
- Shoes👟: flats only, one or two pairs max (we often start the shoot in socks or bare feet)
- Colourful swimwear (ie, swimming costume🩱👙), if you know your shoot is going to be in or near water
- Items that are colourful, unique or unusual are perfect – bring lots!

What if none of the clothes I have are right for you guys?
Say you only have two tops that are colourful and the rest are black 🖤 – no problem, bring the two colourful tops. More options are better, but three options are also ok.
Not having any of the clothes we need is more of a problem. We never expect you to go out and buy new stuff just for us. Let us know as soon as you realise, so we can discuss some options.
Clothes not to bring
We’ll never use these things, so please don’t bring them:
- No black items
- No tan / camel / beige items
- No padded bras
- Nothing “dressy” or “going out” style
- No heels; flats only
- Never buy new clothes especially for your AW shoot, unless we have discussed it with you
If we ever ask you to buy clothes – very rare – we’ll always reimburse you for them, but we will have set a budget (the maximum amount we’ll reimburse for). This is very rare.
