What if I do not like my shoot partner?

When we propose shoot partner options

We’re invested in making an awesome shoot of you and your shoot partner, and that comes from pairing people who like and respect each other, communicate well, and are enthusiastic.

Let us know if you do not like the model options we propose, and we’ll work on some other options. No worries, we won’t pass your feedback on to the other model.

If you agree to make a shoot with someone you don’t care for, it will show and be a low-quality shoot. In that situation, neither model would be offered more shoots in the future! So let’s work together to make the shoot awesome!

“My partner was fucking amazing. We actually talk still! Maybe we will go to a museum together sometime soon… I love her!” (Elza, May 2021)

Weeks before the shoot

If you come to not like the model you’ve been paired with for the shoot (but after you have said you’d like to do a shoot with her), let us know – earlier is better. We’ll work on organising an alternative.

We won’t tell your shoot partner why the shoot needs to be re-organised.

Morning of the shoot

It’s likely the first time you meet your shoot partner will be on-set on the morning of the shoot. You Shoot Producer will run some getting-to-know-you activities (not lame, promise!), which should help break the ice.

If you find you’re uncomfortable making an intimate shoot with your shoot partner at this time, ask for a chat in private with your Shoot Producer to share your concerns. Like us, they want to make an awesome shoot but they know that the key to shoot quality is models getting on well together, and so they can make the decision to cancel the shoot if there are no other options.

During the shoot

Canceling a shoot at this stage is a problem, but it’s still possible.

If you find that during the shoot, you cannot make a good shoot with your shoot partner, consider that the problem might be fixable – maybe changing the position, communicating better, washing something more thoroughly?

Speaking up in an uncomfortable situation takes courage, and there’s no easy way to do it – other than to imagine the positive outcome.

But if necessary, the Shoot Producer can cancel the shoot during the shoot.

“My boundaries were 100% respected. I felt safe and I didn’t feel like anyone wanted to push my boundaries. That is so important! ” (Anna X, May 2022)
